THE SMILE OUTREACH
Catalyzing social change, empowerment, and community development through Eduliftment
The “Hand to Mind Project” represents a groundbreaking initiative from The Smile Outreach, designed to educate and empower young minds through a unique blend of play and learning. At its core, the project is an innovative educational toolkit, including flashcards, puzzles, and a comprehensive training guide, each meticulously crafted to address crucial topics like cross-generational sex, menstrual health, sexual assault, and child marriage.
Focused Themes
Sexual Grooming
Sexual Grooming represents a critical challenge, especially in areas where awareness and education about sexual rights and safety are limited. This project will ensure that our focus on this theme will equip young individuals with the knowledge to recognize and safely navigate situations that may put them at risk.
Child Marriage
We strongly believe that a lot of child marriages are the result of sexual grooming in the south-south and northern regions of Nigeria.
Our concentrated efforts on this theme over the coming years will advocate for the rights of children to education and self-determination. We aim to shift cultural perceptions and advocate for policy changes that support this vision.
#GoodCycle: Menstrual Justice Through Generosity
Through this project we will address this theme by breaking the silence around menstruation, combating stigma, and providing accessible information and resources. Thus normalizing menstruation as a part of life that should not limit anyone’s potential, ensuring that all individuals have the knowledge and means to manage their menstrual health with dignity.
Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)
FGM is a harmful practice that violates the rights and endangers the health of women and girls. This project will address the cultural, social, and economic factors that perpetuate FGM. We aim to foster a culture of respect for bodily autonomy and human rights.
